Everyone says that you should love the rats that you breed through and though. They say that because there are hard things and times you'll want to give up; so really loving the line is important. Once I knew that I was able to practically and financially support a breeding project I knew I had to choose foundations from a line that I loved. I have a great love for shaded varieties so that is where I will start. I am starting to work on burmese and wheaten with russian.
My original plans to pair my first litters in June has been altered due to having to neuter one of my bucks. This means that I will need to wait for my newest additions to grow and mature before they can sire any litters. This is the reality of breeding animals, it does not always go to plan and you have to be adaptable.
My hope is that around September I can pair up rats and then raise the litter(s) October to November. It depends if they take and how many babies I end up with, but I should have my first available rats for pet homes in November/December. I am not currently taking any more applications due to this.
The most important things you need to know about my breeding project.
My rattery's aims are multifaceted. I want to produce healthy and well rounded rats. The line is focused around burmese and wheaten with the russian blue gene. Sable and siamese are possible outcomes due to the genetics at play. I will be breeding for health and an overall good type. I do not breed with the intention of producing pets for others, however, there will likely be rats available after I have selected my picks to continue the line and support other breeders where I can.
My foundation does are from Alpha Centauri Stud. Sophonax (Alpha Centauri A Coat of Autumn Leaves) who is a wheaten burmese, Marisa (Alpha Centauri Mother of Evil) and Serafina (Alpha Centauri Witch Mother) who are both black eyed siamese. I have a pair of bucks from Novigrad Rats to hopefully use when they have matured. Burdock (Novigrad Rooted in Covey Song) is a burmese rex dumbo and Beetee (Novigrad Victor of Volts) is a russian burmese dumbo.
Due to plans changing regarding pairing rats and already having a number of people in my homing group, applications are currently closed. I will not have kittens available until the end of the year. When I do have rats available they will be first advertised in my preapproved homing group.
My rats will only be bred from when they are mature enough to do so and so long as they haven't had any health or behavioural issues. I expect that my future homes will update me of anything that happens to their rats so that I can update my records. My rats, so long as they are happy to be, will be shown in order to gauge wider opinions on their type, condition, and adherence to the variety standards.
Hannah of @hannahsrats on Instagram designed this logo and most of the other art I used online. I love sunflowers and Vincent van Gogh so it just fits.
